I continue to keep track of the books that I read (or listen to) on a separate page. . . . and so far, this year, I am up to 15 books.
I don't know if I will be able to keep up the pace. . . . but I seem to be averaging at least 20 - 25 books a year. Guess we will have to see how it goes.
My usual MO is not to list quilt books --- namely because I hardly (if ever) read them through like a text book or novel. But, my last two books changed that.
Stripes in Quilts by Mary Mashuta has a copyright year of 1996
I think I may have this book in the basement library (that I can't get to right now) but I don't remember ever reading it.
When a search of "quilting" books through my interlibrary search brought up this book I decided to check it out.
What an eye opener! I have used striped fabrics in my quilt blocks in a limited fashion but Mary shows how you can use multiple striped fabrics in the same block! I would never have thought to do that.
She gives quite a number of tips. . . . and has pictures to back up the tips. . . . so this book would be great for both "word learners" and "picture learners".
This is definitely an older but goodie.
Beading Artistry for Quilts by Thom Atkins has a copyright year of 2012
This was a "wild card" choice from the library for me. . . . I was thinking that it might be interesting to read since I am working on a crazy quilt class (I had posted about it earlier this year). But this is so "not your mother's beading"! LOL
Thom actually thinks of the fabric as something to hold the beads together. . . . in other words, to him the beads and the fabric are on equal footing. While I will admit that this is a bit more "artsy" than what I would like to do the examples that he shows are fabulous.
I am just getting into the whole beading thing so I don't think I will be getting this adventurous anytime soon but I think my time was well spent in reading this book.
As I get more books read I'll let you know what I find interesting.
