I think it is funny how it appears that everyone one in blogland seems to be running in the same "cycle".
This past weekend I started working on the basement (read that as meaning the unofficial quilt shop that I have accumulated over the past 20 something years). I was attacking the monumental pile of books, magazines and patterns that I have.
After moving several tubs (BIG tubs) full of fabric I was able to get to the bookcase area. I pulled several handfuls of books, etc. and proceeded to sit & go through them one by one. There were a number of magazines that I kept, a number that I tore out what I wanted & put the remainder in the recycling bin, and still others that I did not want so I put them on a "to be sold or given away" pile.
Several hours later it did not really look like I had done anything!
That was when it hit me (or I had my "V8" moment for those of you that are addicted to commercials). . . while I do have to work through the books, patterns and magazines at some point doing so is not getting me a cleared out basement. The books, et al aren't taking up floor space. . . wall space yup, but not floor space like the tubs of fabric are.
So my new goal is to work on one tub of fabric at a time. That will simplify my life by concentrating my clear out efforts in a way that will, eventually, result in more floor space (but then I'll have to figure out what to do with the empty tubs! HA HA HA HA
Simplify seems to be the universal theme in blogland these days. . . . and it appears that I have jumped on the band wagon as well.
Now, to make this a more interesting post. . . . I have been doing a bit of crochet work lately. Here is the result to date:
I have an enormous stash of crochet thread. Many of the spools are "singles" but there are a number of spools that are the same weight and color. The picture above is what I was able to get out of one spool of a varigated purple spool of thread: 2 doilies, 2 bookmarks and a granny square.
There is a bit of thread left over and I have not yet decided if I will junk it or if I will start another piece with it.
It was fun to work on my crochet. . . . .a bit more "instant gratification" than I get with quilting so I get quicker results.
Hopefully I will be able to get through another spool or two of thread this weekend since I think I am going to take a break from the basement (the weather is supposed to be wonderful so I may just plop myself in a lawn chair and watch the dogs in the yard).
