2017 Plans

Yvonne is having a Linky Party over at her blog (just follow the link on her name) for those of us that have plans for 2017 that we want to make public.  Oh my. . . .that means people can hold me accountable!!

I've mentioned before that I am pretty terrible about keeping up with quilt-a-longs and such, but I am hoping that I can get better with than in 2017.  So that is Goal #1.

Goal #2 is to keep up with the "Motivational Monday" exercises from Crazy Quilter on a Bike (I wrote about her on my last post.  That will keep me on track of what I want to get done so that I can keep my projects moving forward.

Goal #3 is to get more organized (which is a never ending challenge). . . but I am hoping that by concentrating on a few projects at a time that I will be able to work some organization into my routine and make some headway.

Goal #4 is to downsize. . . . .I have started to realize that it does not matter if I have the newest pattern or the most recent magazine. . . .because my style of quilting is more traditional and the money that I have spent on the "latest and greatest" would have been better spent in my retirement fund.  I have more books, patterns, magazines, fabric, yarn, thread, etc. than I could possibly use in three lifetimes so I really don't need to continue purchasing more "just because".

So, while I am working on my projects I will be using up what I have on hand before I go off to shop. And when I do go off to shop it will be with a plan in hand so that I don't get sidetracked.

Mr. Books and I have started to make plans for retirement. . . . although that is still quite a bit far off. . . .and part of those plans might include a move. . . .and I don't want to move all the stuff that we currently have on hand. . . . .so, if it is not good it will get tossed, if it does not work for me it will go to someone that can use it, but it will not just stay locked up in a tote box taking up space!

So, that is what I plan on concentrating on in 2017, what about you?

In peace and pieces,

Sherry

My creative plan for 2017

Have you started thinking about your creative plan for the new year yet?

Lately I have taken a good look around at all the stuff and supplies that I have and said "no more"!

Just about that time I found the Crazy Quilter on a Bike blog and her "motivational Monday" posts. (The link goes to her latest entry.)

Now, I will be the first to admit that I do not have a great track record of posting on quilt-alongs, weekly round-ups, link-ups, this blog, etc., etc.

BUT, her process seems to be striking a chord with me. . . .and it aligns with my goal of getting things done in 2017.

I have my notebook all set up. . . . . . .

And I pulled out my first project. . . . .it was started about 7 years ago. . . . and now have a game plan for the rest of this month and for January to "get 'er done" and out of my house.

I will be so excited if I can start seeing progress in my UFO piles.

In peace and pieces,

Sherry

Santa Sack Swap 2016

For the past few years I have participated in Cheryll's Santa Sack Swap and have had fun and enjoyed meeting another quilter that I might not have met otherwise.

This year my partner was Theresa K. from Bumbleberry Stitches (the link to her blog is on her name).

This is the "before" picture of the packages I received from her:

And here are the "after" pictures:

Here is a work tote bag, a set of crocheted coasters, a loooonnnng tape measure, an angel ornament, a Santa pendant, a package of 2 1/2" squares, wonderful chocolate, lovely pieces of fabric, and the corner of a pillowcase.

More wonderful chocolate and an armchair caddy with an attached pincushion and pockets:

Here is a better picture of the pillowcase, a wonderful pillow and, oh my gosh, a wonderful stuffed doggy!

Forgive me for the lousy picture. . . .I wanted to show the "bling" she is wearing on her neck and around her feet.  It is really a wonderful stuffed dog with lots of things to see so I wanted to try to highlight it.

Cheryll always does a great job of matching up partners and it was wonderful getting to know Theresa and exchanging with her.

Thank you, Theresa and Cheryll, for a great swap to end 2016!

In peace and pieces,

Sherry
