February OMG . . . . .just in the nick of time!

This is the first year that I have actually tried to keep up with the OMG (One Monthly Goal) link up held over at Elm Street Quilts and I have to say, I'm doing pretty well.


January's goal was completed -- YAY me.


For February I set a main goal (a quilt) and a secondary goal (felted wool table runner).  I don't know why I picked 2 goals for a short month. . . but I have been a bit crazed lately!


My main goal, the baby quilt, is COMPLETE!  YAY me.

Of course I did not think to take a picture after the binding was completed, oh well, too late now as it is already wrapped to go.


The pattern is Turning Twenty and I used just a small portion of my 1930's reproductions to make it.


For the quilting I did a meander with loops with an off white thread on the top & bottom.  That was a bit of a pain since it was hard to see where I had been quilting.


I hope the new mom likes it.


Now, what will I choose for February?  Maybe continuing to work on the table runner?

I guess I am a Reader!!

Have you ever taken a gander at the "Books Read" tab that I have set up?









I just went back and ran a total of the books I have read since I started keeping track (2012).  I have read 117 books in that time.


Granted, some years are bigger reading years for me than others.  But, when you consider that the Outlander books are easily 500 - 700 pages long they could almost be counted as 2 books each!


Most of my book reading has been done with "real" books. . . . but I have also done a fair bit of audio book "reading".  Having the audio books allows me to sew while I am listening.


I have always been a reader. . . . and have always read a large variety of genres. 


In looking over my lists it seems that I tend to go in "cycles" with either reading one author or one genre.





Do you have a favorite author?  Are there any authors that you don't care for?


Dean Koontz is hard for me to read. . . . he is very descriptive, to the point of delirium to me so I have not read any of his books since I was much younger.


Joel C. Rosenberg has a way with words that I love. . . . and I am trying to catch up on his books now.  Lately I have been using audio books. . . and the reader, David de Vries, is wonderful to listen to.


Joel Rosenberg (not the same person as Joel C. Rosenberg) passed away several years ago but I enjoyed both his fantasy and his science fiction novels.  The literary world, and book lovers, lost a good person when he passed.

OMG (One Monthly Goal) February plans

Well, I am so happy that my January OMG goal was achieved!  It was great to start the new year off to a great start.


The time has now come to post what I want to accomplish in February.


Hmmmm, well, I just found out that I need a baby quilt.  And I am ahead of the game because I have three Turning Twenty quilt tops done. . . and they are packaged with their backings and battings.  Now, where exactly did I put them?


I will post a picture here once I can find both the quilt tops and my camera.


Since I only have to do the quilting and binding for the baby quilt I think I should pick another project to push forward.


Ok, this one is pretty easy. . . . it is a felted wool table runner that has languished in my UFO pile for at least 20 years.  I did get some work done on it last year. . . but it is still not done.

On the bright side, I have all of the pieces cut out so it is just a matter of stitching them down.  This is something that I can work on while listening to my books on tape. . .and it gives me an excuse to stay out of the basement while it is so cold here in New Jersey.
