Here a Penny, There a Penny. . .no wait, that's a Dime!

Have you heard the buzz? 


Maybe you have been hearing a lot of clinking of coins?


Well, it is time again for the annual Piggy Bank Challenge that Val has hosted for the past several years.







The "rules" are pretty simple:

1. Write a blog post this week sharing your "piggy bank".
2. Be sure to mention what you plan on purchasing with the savings you amass.
3. Include the linky button above to help spread the word to all your followers. 
4. Return to Val's linky post by August 1st to add your posting.
5. Start hoarding your coins. . . . .and paper money is allowed (just not Monopoly money, LOL).
6. Next year on July 6th we get to empty our banks.  We get to create a post revealing our totals to the "world" and celebrate!   There will be an "end of challenge" linky party over at Val's too. 

(Don't worry, she sends emails to all that link up with reminders.)

So, just to give you some idea. . . . . I rolled my coins yesterday from a bit over a year of "hoarding". . . .the grand total came to $248.50!  WOW!


And, since there were coins (all denominations) that were not enough to roll I have a "head start" on my tally for next year.

And the funny thing. . . . . . I don't like Coke. . . . I am a PEPSI girl all the way!!  LOL


Are you wondering what I plan on using my $248.50 on?  I'm not sure. . . . there are some camping trips coming up and perhaps I will be able to find something interesting at either a quilt or antique shop.

My Summer Vacation. . . . part one

Well, I have no idea where June went. . . . except that we were doing a bit of traveling.


First up was Altoona, PA. . . . .  .


I was able to meet up with one of my Facebook quilting buddies. . . unfortunately we only got to see each other for breakfast on one day. . . . she is one busy lady between work and her theatre volunteering.


We did a bit of sightseeing. . . . .


The Horseshoe Curve





It was wild to watch the trains go by. . . . some of them were so long that they went from one side of the curve to the other!


It was a beautiful day and even though I am not a train fan I enjoyed myself.

We went to a couple of quilt shops:


Connie's Collectibles. . . .she is located in a house in Duncansville and has a very nice collection of fabrics.


and


Mary Koval's quilt shop. . . .her shop is in Bedford, PA and has hosted Bonnie Hunter workshops for several years.


Other than that we went to flea markets, antique shops and just rambled around.  We did a lot of train stuff (Mr. Books was happy).


Altoona was the furthest west that we have been camping. . . .and it was the first time either of us had been there so we had a great time.


I'll save the next part of June wait for another post.
