Happy Thanksgiving

I just want to take this moment to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to all of those who celebrate it.

Some of the things I am thankful for are:

A God that is good ALL the time. . . .even if I don't see it that way while I'm in the moment.

A family that loves and supports me. . . no matter how stupid my ideas may be.

Friends that are willing to take me "as I am". . . .even when that might grate on their nerves.

My husband, whom God lead me to, that thinks I am the best thing since sliced bread (oh boy, hope he keeps those "rose colored" glasses)!! he he he

The work of my hands, the thoughts of my mind and the ability to live in a country where I am free to speak my mind, whether it is politically correct or not.

My freedom. . . . it has been hard won, and can be lost in a moment if we do not maintain our vigilance. . . and for that I will be forever grateful to our men & women in the armed services.

Do you "do" Black Friday?

It seems that all the talk the past couple of weeks has been about the Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving here in the US) sales.

I don't get it.

Well, actually, let me re-phrase that. . . . I do get it. . . . . .I just don't understand.

Here's the way my little brain works. . . .ok, it's the Sunday before Thanksgiving. . . I pick up the newspaper. There are sales circulars in there that show the sale dates from Sunday through Wednesday.

Why do they bother with doing Sunday circulars when everyone is just waiting until Thursday to see what is going to be on sale on Friday????

Does anyone even go shopping (other than groceries) the 3-4 days before Thanksgiving???

Kmart is open on Thanksgiving. . . will I go there? Perhaps. I have gone there in previous years, just like I would go to the Rag Shop if they were still around.

Will I do Black Friday? Yes, there are a couple of things that I have my eye on. And Joann Fabrics opens at 6AM.

Now, to answer my own question. . . .yes I do Black Friday. . . .but more as a spectator because once the shops get too crowded I'm "outta there". . . . because I can't take massive crowds of people, unless I am in a quilt store ('cause there at least I know I'm among friends even if I don't know a single one of you!) he he he he

Something else to show

Ok, I hope I haven't shocked anyone too badly by posting for several days in a row!

Here is a picture of another quilt that has come home to stay:

In one of my earlier posts I had written about the Twisted Mystery swap from Quilt Shoppe Forum. . . .well, this is the quilt that resulted from my fabric collection. Lynn in California made it for me & it is terrific.

The border fabric, the green in the blocks and the purple paisley are my fabrics. The fabric that I sent as a background was not sufficient for the quilt that Lynn designed so she added her own fabrics.

I'll need to get a picture of the back. . . she used a wonderful piece of complementary rose print fabric on the back that I just adore.

The Twisted Mystery swap is probably the one swap that I will be sticking with. . . .the women are so talented and Lynn keeps everything running very smoothly.

Well, I really should try to get some sleep. . . .but the raw onions that ended up being in my sandwich at lunch are not helping. . .

More pictures to show you

Hello!

Here are more pictures for your enjoyment (I hope) . . . but they make me happy so that's all I need to know.

My DH and I celebrated our 4th anniversary by camping in Gettysburg, PA for a week. While there we travelled all around going to antique shops.

In one of the shops we found this quilt. It is made of feedsacks and is large enough to fit the top of our double bed. We decided that this would be our gift to each other.

Aren't the fabrics just terrific. And the pattern is sooo very simple, just the type of blocks/quilts I love.

When we weren't antiquing we were doing touristy things. Since we were relatively close enough to the Harley Davidson factory in York, PA we took a tour of the factory. It was a really neat thing to do.

While we were waiting for the tour to begin DH got to "ride" a couple of Harleys that were just "hanging around" in the lobby.

DH would love to own this red trike. . . . maybe someday. . . .

Ok, so Halloween was actually BEFORE our anniversary. . . .we had a visit from a couple of "caped crusaders" and a "new" Spiderman (aka DS, DBIL and DN)

That's all I have to show for today. . . . .hope to be able to have some more to show you tomorrow.

Stitcher's Angel swap received

For the past two years I have participated in the Stitcher's Angel swap from Helen of Hugs From Helen. . .this year my gifts were received from Vero in Chile. Here's a picture:

Aren't these wonderful?

The needlecase is embroidered with different stitches for each section. The pincushion was embroidered with my initial and the tote has a rose on the little outside pocket.

There are also 2 inside pockets in the tote.

I can see that this one will be used for my handwork projects. . . it is the perfect size.

Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the package that I sent to my partner. . . Helena in Sweden. I'll have to check her blog to see if she has posted pictures so that I can refer you there.

I haven't disappeared from the face of the Earth

I can't believe that it has been almost 2 months since I last posted. . . time has flown by, not all of it happy. . .but I really didn't think it had been that long.

To make up for lost time this post will be full of pics. . .hope you enjoy seeing them.


This first picture is of the quilt I received from Lori in Margaret's 4SQS Holiday Swap.

I love the colors and the quilting that she did on it. I just need to find a wall that is large enough in my house where I can hang it for Christmas.

This next picture is the quilt that I made for the 4SQS Holiday Swap. It was sent outside of the United States. I had a blast making it and hope that my partner likes it.

This table runner is what I made for the Quilt Shoppe Forum Twisted Mystery #5 swap.

Ok, you are probably wondering what a Twisted Mystery Swap is. Well, other than being really fun what happens is you send fabrics to the hostess (which has been Lynn who is absolutely awesome!). You do not put anything that can identify you in your package. . .you just send fabric.

Your fabric is then passed on to another member of the swap. . . but they don't know whose fabric they have.

Quilts are made to the specifications of the swap. . . .in this years swap we were to do smaller wallhangings or table runners.

Each member is responsible for the batting, backing & quilting of the final piece. . . . and the design is maker's choice.

If you look at the fabrics that I got there was a wonderful Christmas print that I fussy cut for the center of the blocks.

Linda, for whom this quilt was made, loves it & was very excited to get a table runner for her Christmas table.

This next picture is the quilt that I received from the Quilting Gallery "Good Ol Summertime" swap. I absolutely love this quilt. . . .you have to enlarge the picture to check out the quilting that was done. . . .unbelievable workmanship!

This picture is the quilt that I received from the Doll Quilt Swap #7 swap. Isn't it just darling??!! I really love this one also.

I have more pictures to post. . . .but will do that tomorrow so that you have enough time to really look at these pictures.
