I don't think I've shown these before. . . . .

I was uploading some pictures for my parents and found that there were a lot of pictures that I do not think I have ever posted here. . . . so here goes:

This mini quilt was done for the Teal Swap that Beth Helfter from EvaPaige Designs does each year as a fund raiser for Ovarian Cancer research.

We have adopted another dog.  This is Lacey, a cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix) and she is 3 1/2 years old.

This is the youngest dog that we have ever adopted. . . . .and we are still getting used to the energy level.  These pictures were taken when we had only just gotten her. . . . she was very matted.  When we had taken her to the groomer there was not much of a choice but to shave her down.

Since then we have been maintaining her brushing and she looks much better.  I will have to get another picture.

This is a picture that shows her face better.  She has a brown nose.

This block was done for a block swap on Delphi Forums.  We were given the print fabric and we had to make a 12 1/2" quilt block using that and any other fabrics we wanted.  The red that I used really matched much better than it shows in the picture.

In 2016 I was in the Stash Bee group.  These next two pictures are ones that I sent to one of the members in my group.

I'll have to check to see if there were other pictures that need to be uploaded here.

In peace and pieces,

 Sherry

More winnings

I had two other winnings that I have been meaning to post about but it kept slipping my mind.  So, without further delay:

Swap win

I participated in the Fall Forum Block swap over on The Quilting Bee Forum on Delphi Forums.

We were each sent a piece of the focus fabric.  Our blocks needed to use that fabric and any other fabrics that we wanted to use.

I can't seem to find a picture of the block that I made. . . . but I really liked it and hoped that I would win all the blocks that were made.

Unfortunately, I did not win one of the "grand prizes".

But, I won one of the "runner up prizes". . . . . which might actually be more fun!!

The picture below shows the focus fabric. . . . and that is a nice sized piece of the fabric that we were sent. . . .it is a New Zealand fabric (if memory serves me) and feels wonderful.

I should have opened the piece up fully so that you could all see how great the fabric is.  Perhaps next time!

In addition I received a package of 10" squares. . . . they are wonderful also. . . .and, again, I guess I should have opened the package up so that you could see all the colors.

There was also this little charm (sorry, I can't get the picture to turn).
You can't read the entire story so here it is:

According to laws of aerodynamics the bumble bee cannot fly;
Its body is top heavy for its wings and that's the simple reason why.

But the bumble bee doesn't know this fact,
and so it flies anyway for all to see.
Remember this when you're losing faith or hope God's proof that the impossible can be.

Blog Giveaway win

My other win was from Wilma's blog . . . . .she had what I am calling a "blog relaunch" since she had been away from her blog for a while.

I "know" Wilma from Delphi forums and her blog and I was floored when she wrote to tell me that I won her giveaway.

Here are the patterns that she sent:

I am seriously thinking of attempting the tulip bag.  The pattern says "Two Hour". . . .I doubt I will get the first one done that quickly. . . but the piecing seems straight forward enough for me to attempt.

The other patterns look interesting too. . . . . now, if I could only find about 56 more hours in each day I might actually get to them!  LOL

Here is the rest of the giveaway.  There is quite a bit of fabric there. . . . and it has a wonderful silky feel to it.

The Magic Templates will need to be looked at a bit. . . . . I am not much of an applique person and the quick "once over" I gave this tool does not really allow me to comment on it fully.

I am hoping to get another post in later today as a "goodbye" to 2014 and a "hello" to 2015.  But it may not get done until we are in the new year.

In peace and pieces,

Playing catch up. . . . .once again!

Mr. Books had rotator cuff surgery a couple of weeks ago. . . . and I have been playing "nurse maid".

Now, I love my husband. . . . .but he is not a good patient (so would that make him an "impatient patient"?  LOL).  Between his frustration at not being able to do much. . . . and his needing my help it has been a bit of a challenge.

Guess it is a good thing that my kids have always been four -legged and furry!

But I did get some things done:

These blocks were done for a Comfort Quilt for an on-line friend who recently lost her sister.  They are both 9" blocks and the floral print fabric was the fabric that we were given to use as part of the block:

This quilt was one that I did as part of the Twisted Mystery swap that I participated in through The Quilting Bee forum on Delphi Forums.
I was provided with some of the fabrics but added a few of my own to get more variety in the quilt.  The pattern was from an older Love of Quilting magazine.  I had fun putting the pinwheels in so that it wasn't just "random" fabrics.

The new owner is planning on using it for a charity donation. . . . so I hope that the recipient enjoys using it as much as I enjoyed making it.
