FAL (Finish A Long) Quarter #2 project listing








WOW! I can't believe that it is time to make a list for things that I hope to finish in the 2nd quarter.


Where is the time going??!!


Seeing as how I did not get everything from my 1st quarter list done there will be a lot of repeats.


Here goes with the list:


1.  Complete a quilt that my husband pieced


I have not started the quilting on it because I have been a little under the weather.  But I am hoping to get a good start on it on Saturday while he is "playing train".


2. My Four Patch Stacked Posy quilt


Here are a sample of some of the blocks.

They have all been sewn into rows.


But now the rows need to be put together so that I have a completed quilt top to quilt.


3.  My birdhouse quilt


I am not sure how many quilt blocks I have done. . .but there is at least one that is completed:

And there are only 9 blocks in the quilt:



So I should be able to get this one done. . .I think.


These three projects should be enough to carry me through. . . there is still enough wiggle room if I decide to work on something else in between.

Another push for me to get things done. . . .

Now, I know that I am also posting through One Monthly Goal (OMG) but Sarah's FAL is quarterly. . . so I can plan out a little further.


For the first quarter of 2019 I hope to complete the following:


1.  Charity quilt for California fire survivor:




I am almost to the point of sewing the blocks. . .all the prep work is almost complete.  My deadline is for before the end of January.


2.  This is my Four Patch Stacked Posy quilt project:



I have all the rows done.  Just need to sew the sashing rows and then I can start assembling the quilt top. 



3.  My birdhouse quilt:



I believe that I have all the birdhouse blocks completed, except for the holes (which I am thinking of making from yo-yo's).


I do not remember if there is sashing between the blocks or not. . . . but once I get my first 2 projects done I can check the pattern out again.


4.  These blocks remind me of beaded curtains:

I have wood grain fabric for the borders, just need to get to cutting and some more sewing in order to get this done and usable.


5.  While this is a picture of a completed quilt I do have another quilt top using 1930's fabrics that I would like to get done.


If memory serves me the backing and batting is already cut. . . I just need to get it on the quilting machine to move it along.


Five projects to be done in 3 months. . . hmmmm, might be a bit of a tall order, but if only one or two of these get finished I will be ahead of the game.

Welcome to My House blog hop



Carol, who blogs HERE is hosting another great blog hop. . . this one is all about houses:







I am so happy that I was able to participate in this hop. . . .but, I will admit, I had hoped to be further along with my project than I got.


However, we all know that life has a way of getting in the way of fun times. . . but I am further ahead that what I was a week ago, so that is a plus.


I am making a birdhouse quilt; here is the one block that I have finished (except for the entry hole):




I used the same piece of batik for each of the nine houses, but because of the coloration in the batik no two houses will be the same.


It took me forever to try to decide on the roof and base color. . . and even now I am not all that happy with it. It works to let the batik shine, and I did not want to use black since I will be using that for the hole.


The pattern I am using is "Tweety, I'm Home":










I believe it was a free pattern but I cannot find a link for it. . . . so I am thinking that it is one of my "ancient" print outs that I have unearthed in my quest to downsize the books, magazines and patterns that are all over my basement. (I found some magazines from 1999 . . .  that's 19 years ago. . . . and I am sure that there are older things also.)


There is some fabric waste with the way that they have you construct the blocks, but I will be using those trimmings in my crumb blocks so that works.


Putting the blocks together is very straight forward so I am sure that the quilt top will be completed pretty quickly. . . or I may take it with me to retreat in October.


I know that my next decisions will be in trying to find fabrics for the inner and outer borders.


Working from my stash makes it a little difficult because of the sizes that I need, but hopefully I will be putting a dent in the stash at some point!
