Good Riddance Sandy. . . . .God Bless the Victims

We got our power back last night but I needed to clean out the refrigerators before getting back on-line.

There is still no work since there is no power at the office. . . . hopefully things will be better by the end of the weekend.

It was nice to see on the news that there were tributes to the victims of Sandy at the CMA awards.  But I don't consider myself a victim.  Yes, I lost power for several days and lost some food that spoiled.

The real victims are those that are still without power, and water, and food, and the ones that have homes so damaged they can't go back to them.

The victims are the ones that lived in the areas where the storm caused major water damage.  The Jersey shore is destroyed, as is the areas near the shore.  They are the true victims.

I continue to pray for those people and areas. . .  .plus the areas that our newscasters don't talk about. . . the New Yorkers, the other countries that were in Sandy's path.

I also continue to pray for the workers from all over the country that have raced from their own homes to try to help out the people that need to be helped.

If you are the praying type I'd appreciate you adding your prayers. . . . . there are a lot of people here on the East Coast that will need them for the foreseeable future.

More sewing while awaiting Sandy

It is 2:31PM on Monday, October 29. . . . Hurricane Sandy is due to hit NJ some time around midnight.

I'm trying to get some sewing done instead of just sitting here watching the news;  I really wanted to watch Divorce Court but all that is on is weather information.  Guess I will have to change back to the cable networks so that I don't keep myself nuts worrying about the storm.

Here are 2 more blocks that I was able to get done ---- these are for a November swap so I am a little ahead of the game.  YAY ME!!!

If the power stays on and I get more things accomplished I'll update this blog.  But, since the lights have started to flicker every once in a while I'm not sure what will happen.

For others in Hurricane Sandy's path. . . .my prayers go out, stay safe, keep positive thinking going and we'll be catching up with you later.

Sewing before Sandy

Well, work was closed today due to the worsening weather conditions.

We still have power so I thought I would do a quick post & then fire up the sewing machine.

Some of the piecing that I've done in the past little while were for swaps. . . .here are pictures that I can post (the rest are secrets so I can't post them):

The blocks requested were "red & white". . . . so for one I used a red w/white pin dots and the other uses a solid red.

I hope my partner likes the blocks. . . . they were fun to make.

If there is still power later today I'll try to post what I have been able to complete.  However, since there are already 5000 power customers without electricity in southern NJ so I'm not sure how soon we will be able to weather the storm without losing power.

For everyone facing Hurricane Sandy I hope that you are safe and sound.

Waiting for Sandy's arrival

Mr. Books & I had a wonderful weekend of camping in Pennsylvania. . . but we came back here to the warnings of Hurricane Sandy.

Last year we had to deal with the loss of electricity with Irene (5 days no electricity and loss of a lot of food). . . . now we have been advised by our electric provider that if the power goes out we are looking at the possibility of 2-3 weeks without electricity.

Prayers have been said; preparations (as able) have been done; now we are just waiting to see what happens.

My biggest fear is that I get to work tomorrow & then can't get back home. . . . because the 2 dogs need to be taken care of.  During Irene we went to help out my parents and within 2 hours where we lived was an island and all of the routes we tried to use to get home were blocked with floods.  Last year we had Casey with us & figured we would need to find a hotel to stay.  Sandy is expected to hit during a weekday ---- and Mr. Books & I both will be working.

Prayers for all of the eastern coast that are facing Sandy's wrath would be appreciated.

Stay safe everyone!
