Next book on the reading list

Over the weekend I finished reading "Too Many Crooks Spoil the Broth" by Tamar Myers.

I enjoyed the book. . . .but I found it a little weird to have most of the recipes interspersed between the actual book. . . .guess I'm just used to having the recipes all together at the end of the book.

My next reading will be
Quilt or Innocence: A Southern Quilting Mystery  Elizabeth Craig is a new author to me so I'll have to let you know if I enjoyed it once I'm finished.  The Corgi on the cover was a plus (I'm a sucker for a book with a dog in it!).

I have a couple of other books that are coming to my local library (have I said recently how much I LOVE inter-library loan systems?!!) so I may have to read double time so that I don't get fined late fees.

Happy Quilting,

What I am reading now. . .

I finished "And Then You Dye" (the last book I posted about) and have started another one:

Too Many Crooks Spoil the Broth (Pennsylvania Dutch Mystery Series #1)
I believe that this is the first book in her series. . . .it's an older book.  I've read 35 pages on the first day (during lunch at work).  It seems pretty good so far. . . .I hope I can keep up the reading pace because I've been notified by my library that there are a couple more books that I reserved that will be coming in very soon.

What are you reading?

And so begins a new book. . . .

So I finished reading "Buddy. . . How a Rooster Made Me a Family Man" last night.  It was a good read but it required tissues.  I would recommend it.

After the Little Man went home last night I started reading the next book that I had gotten from the library.

And Then You Dye (A Needlecraft Mystery, #16) I have read all of Monica Ferris' other books and, with the exception of "Cruel Yule" I really enjoyed them.

Well, to be honest I enjoyed "Cruel Yule" but it was not up to the normal standards that I have come to expect from her books.  It almost seemed like it was a "rush job" and not as thought out as her other books.

I'm only on page 10 so I don't have an opinion on this one yet. . . but I'll let you know.

14 down. . . . how many more to go???

I just finished reading the 14th book for this year. That averages to 2.8 books per month. If I keep up that pace I'll have read 33.6 books by the end of the year.

That's pretty good with reading mostly during lunch breaks at work & the occasional "down time" (like tonight) that I take.

Of course, I'm not keeping track of the quilting, crochet and other craft books that I read and, of course, the magazines don't get added. . . .I would really have some impressive numbers if I did that!! he he he

I have another book to start reading tomorrow, and the library has a couple of audio books that I requested available for pick up. . .so my numbers will keep clicking higher.

I wish that I had kept tabs of how many books I have read since I was a kid. . . .since my nose has always been in a book I would guess that I have read more than 1,000 books. . .

And before you start thinking that I'm crazy to come up with that number consider this. . . I've been reading for more than 40 years; there are 12 months in each year, if I kept to the average of 2.8 books I year it is conceivable that I could have read 1,344 books so far!!!

Kind of mind boggling when you think about it, huh???!!!

Book Reading

After reviewing my 2008 reading list it looks like I was able to read 34 books in one year. That seems amazing to me since I usually only read during lunch at work; but, especially if I'm getting close to the end, I will read at home on occasion.

So far I have finished one book this year. . .I had started it in 2008 but set it aside while I was working on projects during lunch.

I wonder if I will meet or exceed the reading that I did last year. . . at the rate I was going I was reading an average of 3 books a month. . .that seems like a pretty high target to try to beat!
